Job description

Intermediate Technical Support:

  • Serve as a dependable technical resource for routine Global Lab operations and assigned support activities.
  • Execute documented deployment, upgrade, refresh, and maintenance tasks with limited supervision.
  • Support process improvements by identifying repeat issues, documentation gaps, and opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Assist and guide entry-level technicians on routine tasks, procedures, and escalation readiness.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain service quality, lab availability, and customer support responsiveness.

Lab Operations & Customer Support:

  • Manage assigned lab support requests and service tickets from intake through completion.
  • Coordinate lab resources for Engineering, TAC, customer demonstrations, proof-of-concept environments, and testing activities.
  • Provide timely and professional updates to internal and external customers.Partner with Engineering, Technical Support,
  • Product Management, and IT teams to support successful execution of lab initiatives.
  • Maintain lab areas, equipment placement, labeling, access readiness, and operational standards.

Infrastructure & Data Center Operations:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical servers and common lab infrastructure components.
  • Support enterprise network switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, access points, and wireless controllers.
  • Support storage, backup, terminal server, remote access, and intelligent PDU operations under established procedures.
  • Perform rack-and-stack installations, structured cabling, equipment commissioning, and hardware replacements.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance activities and support infrastructure upgrades or hardware refreshes.

Virtualization & Cloud Services:

  • Support virtual infrastructure platforms including VMware ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, or equivalent technologies.
  • Provision and manage virtual machines and associated resources following established standards.
  • Support cloud-hosted lab services and remote-access environments.
  • Monitor utilization, access, and capacity indicators, then escalate concerns with supporting detail.

Inventory & Asset Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for assigned lab and data center assets.
  • Track hardware utilization and contribute to capacity planning inputs.
  • Coordinate receiving, staging, deployment, relocation, and retirement of equipment.
  • Support audits, asset lifecycle updates, and reconciliation of equipment records

Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve routine hardware, software, networking, access, cabling, and infrastructure issues
  • Perform initial root-cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for recurring issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, ticket notes, and knowledge base articles.
  • Escalate complex issues and coordinate resolution with senior technicians or internal teams when necessary.

Position Summary: The Global Labs organization provides access to enterprise-class lab environments, cloud-based services, networking infrastructure, and test resources supporting Engineering, Technical Support, Product Management, Sales Engineering, and Customer Engagement teams worldwide. This position is an intermediate technical contributor responsible for independently supporting routine Global Labs operations, infrastructure maintenance, data center tasks, virtualization support, networking equipment, customer-facing lab services, and inventory accuracy. This role requires a technician who can execute assigned projects with limited supervision, troubleshoot common infrastructure issues, coordinate with internal teams, maintain clear documentation, and support reliable lab availability across shared environments.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Networking, or a related technical field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of experience supporting enterprise lab, data center, networking, IT, or infrastructure environments.
  • Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware, Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, AWS, Azure, or equivalent industry certification.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing lab environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking, wireless technologies, virtualization platforms, infrastructure monitoring, or capacity planning.
  • Experience with traffic generators, packet capture tools, or network testing equipment is preferred.

Required Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Working knowledge of server hardware, operating systems, and lab infrastructure support
  • Working understanding of TCP/IP networking fundamentals and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, access points, and wireless controllers.
  • Experience supporting VMware ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, or equivalent virtualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with storage, backup, terminal server, remote power, and remote-access solutions.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with data center cabling standards, rack infrastructure, and hardware deployment best practices.
  • Ability to use standard administrative and management tools for Windows, Linux, virtualization, networking, and data center infrastructure.
