Job description

Experteer Overview As a Principal Software Engineer at Consumers Energy, you will shape technical direction and build scalable software that powers Michigan communities. You’ll lead engineering efforts within the Applications and Analytics team, mentoring engineers and driving best practices across the SDLC. You’ll work in a collaborative, agile environment to deliver high-impact, trustworthy technology aligned with our Digital First mission. This role offers leadership, hands-on contribution, and opportunities to explore emerging tech at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Define and drive the architectural vision for integrated solutions with emphasis on performance, security, and maintainability * Mentor engineers, conduct paired coding and interviews, and promote clean coding and Agile practices * Contribute hands-on technical velocity on critical projects and lead innovative initiatives * Collaborate in an Agile environment to align technical work with business needs and enterprise architecture * Represent the company in industry forums and drive thought leadership * Lead and govern emerging technologies and innovation initiatives * Support on-call coverage for critical business applications as needed * Other duties as assigned Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in computer, engineering or related discipline with 7+ years of coding experience or * Associate’s degree in computer, engineering or related discipline with 9+ years of coding experience or * High School Diploma/GED with 11+ years of coding experience Key requirements * Competitive compensation packages * Medical, Dental and Vision * 401k with company match * Paid parental leave * Up to 13 paid Holidays * Paid time off”“Educational Assistance Program
