Job description

Experteer Overview As a Senior Engineer in the Development Assurance group, you will drive software and electronic hardware compliance for DO-178C and DO-254 across Joby’s aircraft programs. You will mentor teams, coordinate with the FAA, and help shape our certification documentation and processes. This is a hands-on role that combines technical rigor with regulatory engagement to enable safe, certifiable autonomous aircraft. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to reduce defects and improve compliance efficiency, making a tangible impact on the path to certification and flight readiness. Compensation / Benefits * Provide technical guidance on DO-178C compliance and DO-331 model-based development. * Ensure plans and standards are followed; participate in or direct peer reviews. * Develop and maintain software compliance artifacts (PSAC, checklists, audit/test plans). * Collaborate with Systems Engineering Leads to resolve requirements affecting software compliance. * Participate in planning and reviews (requirements, design, code, test) to identify issues. * Maintain compliance records (checklists, audit records) for projects. * Represent the software team to the FAA as needed. * Identify and implement process improvements to reduce defects and improve SW efficiency. * Liaise with development and verification engineers to ensure clear requirement communication. * Ensure DO-178C and DO-254 artifacts align with plans and regulator submittals. * Support regulatory audits by leading audits, test witnessing, and coordinating with regulators. * Provide certification guidance to development teams on questions and issues. Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field; 10+ years of relevant experience. * Practitioner-level knowledge of DO-178C with hands-on DO-331 experience for model-based development. * Hands-on experience with object-oriented software development. * Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. * Ability to work independently; proactive problem solver. * Collaborative mindset with a strong safety and ethical engineering bias. * Fast learner with a solid work ethic; MS in engineering or technical area preferred.
