Staff Engineer Survivability - Hardware Integration (CA or FL)

Experteer Overview You will join a cross-functional team to develop hardware subsystems and perform integration and testing for NGAS programs. You’ll translate customer needs into hardware specifications, verify allocated requirements, and collaborate across hardware, software, and firmware teams. The role focuses on avionics and mission-system integration to meet platform objectives, contributing to defense technology at scale. This position offers work across San Diego, CA or Melbourne, FL with exposure to cutting-edge RF and EW hardware. You will help shape reliable, high-performance aerospace systems in a multidisciplinary environment. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and mature requirements and interfaces and translate them into hardware specifications * Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to integrate avionics and mission subsystems * Work with cross-disciplinary teams including hardware, software, and firmware engineers * Create supplier documentation such as procurement specs and statements of work * Document designs using schematics, diagrams, and specifications * Support development and integration of HW subsystems to meet platform objectives * Develop integrated hardware integration and test plans * Perform functional and performance analyses * Conduct detailed trade studies * Analyze components, subsystems, and systems against standards (governmental and commercial) Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 12 years of related experience OR Master’s degree in STEM with 10 years OR PhD with 8 years * Knowledge of electromagnetics in RF spectrum (VHF through Ka bands) * Experience in RF/EW applications and model development in Matlab, Python, or C/C++ * Familiarity with RF sensing modalities and their applications * Ability to decompose and trace requirements from system to components * Experience with supplier documentation and statements of work * Experience with supplier/subcontract management and multidisciplinary teams * Experience designing, developing, integrating, and/or testing RF equipment for airborne platforms * Knowledge of systems engineering design methods and interface control documentation * Active Top Secret SCI clearance and SAP access or ability to obtain within a reasonable period Key requirements * health insurance * life and disability insurance * savings plan * paid holidays * paid time off (PTO) * overtime/shift differential and discretionary bonus (depending on position)
