Experteer Overview In this role you will lead a Ground Software program within the Space Systems software and controls team, guiding both functional management and hands-on development. You will drive the full software lifecycle for mission applications, ensuring secure, scalable solutions and effective collaboration with program management, suppliers, and customers. You will supervise 15-20 engineers, coordinate resources, and mentor staff while shaping deployment strategies and network architecture. This position emphasizes technical excellence, security, and cross-functional leadership to deliver critical defense software.” Compensation / Benefits * Lead a team of 15-20 engineers, coordinating resources and performance feedback * Oversee full software lifecycle activities: requirements, design, development, testing, release, and sustainment * Secure, containerize, and harden applications; manage OS hardening and network security * Develop and implement deployment strategies and system/network architectures * Mentor engineers, provide career development, and conduct performance evaluations * Collaborate with program management, suppliers, and government customers * Drive engineering changes and integrate new technologies into program systems * Lead engineering teams to solve complex integration problems and ensure contract performance Tasks * Bachelor’s Degree with 8 years of software experience, or Master’s with 6 years, or PhD with 3 years * Experience across the software development life cycle and Agile methodologies * Prior lead or management experience in a team environment * Proficiency in C/C++, Java or other OOP languages * Experience with configuration management tools and processes * Containerization experience (e.g., Podman, Docker) * Active DoD Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain special program access * Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II (Security+) certification * Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills Key requirements * health insurance * life and disability insurance * savings plan * Company paid holidays * paid time off (PTO) * discretionary bonus potential
