Job description

  • Integrate an existing MRI gradient driver FPGA prototype into a production MR platform
  • Assume ownership and further development of VHDL-based FPGA designs for real-time control of high-voltage power electronics, including 800V switching systems and gradient control functions
  • Design, implement, and optimize synchronous digital logic, including PWM-based control, state machines, and timing analysis
  • Perform FPGA-based hardware integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation
  • Support the transition of systems from laboratory prototype to production-ready medical equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for MR system integration, troubleshooting, and documentation
  • Document design processes, test results, and support regulatory compliance for medical device production
  • Independently assume ownership of an existing FPGA code base with limited ramp-up time

Requirements

Our client is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer to lead the integration of an existing MRI gradient driver prototype into a production MR platform. In this pivotal role, you will assume full ownership of a VHDL-based FPGA design responsible for real-time control of high-voltage power electronics, including 800V switching systems and gradient control functions. You will drive FPGA development, synchronous digital design, PWM-based control, MR system integration, debugging, validation, and support the transition from laboratory prototype to production-ready medical equipment. This position requires deep technical expertise, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work independently in a high-reliability environment., * 10+ years of FPGA and digital design experience

  • Strong VHDL development experience (required)
  • Experience with Intel/Altera FPGA platforms and Quartus development tools
  • Deep understanding of synchronous digital design, clocked systems, state machines, timing analysis, and deterministic real-time control
  • Experience implementing PWM and switching control logic in FPGA-based systems
  • Experience supporting power electronics, motor control, inverter control, power conversion, or other high-power real-time control applications
  • FPGA-based hardware integration, bring-up, debugging, and validation experience
  • Experience transitioning products from prototype to production environments
  • Working knowledge of embedded C (preferred)
  • Ability to independently assume ownership of an existing FPGA code base with limited ramp-up
  • Experience in medical, industrial automation, automotive, aerospace, defense, or other high-reliability systems (preferred)

Benefits & conditions

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Dependent Care FSA
  • Supplemental coverage options to fit your needs
  • 401k plan with company match and full vesting upon eligibility
  • Paid time off, sick time, and paid company holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offering virtual counseling, financial services, legal services, life coaching, and more
