Job description

We are seeking a hands-on AWS Application Architect to lead the design and delivery of cloud-native microservices across client engagements. You will work directly with engineering teams and stakeholders - which means you are expected to solve real business problems, not just implement technical requirements. That starts with understanding the domain, the data, and the people using the system before deciding how to build it. You will guide best practices, mentor developers, and own outcomes end to end., * Architect and deliver REST-based microservices on Amazon ECS, with hands-on experience across EC2 and Lambda to select the right compute model for each use case.

  • Develop backend Node.js REST APIs using NestJS with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and security.
  • Define API design standards and patterns across microservices, ensuring consistency, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Design PostgreSQL schemas with sound judgment on tradeoffs - normalization, indexing, and query performance at scale.
  • Design and maintain ECS deployments including autoscaling, ingress, and workload security.
  • Design secure API exposure using API Gateway, Application Load Balancer, and CloudFront.
  • Implement secure access patterns using IAM roles, IRSA, VPC endpoints, VPC peering, and private networking.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership - coaching teams on cloud-native design, CI/CD, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain architectural blueprints and documentation.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in application development or cloud architecture with a strong focus on microservices.
  • Proven hands-on experience designing and implementing end-to-end solutions on AWS - not just familiarity with architectural patterns. You should be able to clearly articulate the tradeoffs behind every decision you have made.
  • Hands-on experience with Amazon ECS - deployments, autoscaling, and container orchestration on AWS.
  • Strong Node.js expertise building production REST APIs with NestJS.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and caching patterns in a cloud environment.
  • Experience implementing authentication and authorization using Cognito, Okta, JWTs, or IAM.
  • Proficiency in AI-native development tools - specifically Kiro, Cursor, or VSCode with integrated coding assistants.
  • Exposure to Generative AI and Agentic AI - experience consuming LLM APIs or contributing to agent-based workflows is a strong plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) is strongly preferred.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with React or similar front-end frameworks.
  • Experience with Amazon EKS and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and async messaging patterns.
  • Familiarity with data services such as AWS Data Lake, Athena, Iceber
  • Knowledge of agentic AI orchestration frameworks such as Strands.
  • Experience consuming AWS Bedrock Agent APIs and SageMaker endpoints for generative AI integration.
  • Observability experience with CloudWatch, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry., Enterprise Application Architect - AWS2Microservices,Python,AWS,EKS,nodeJavaC2C,W-2,C2H,Full Time,Contract,W2,Full TImeUnited States
