Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you defend Verizon’s global network by leading security improvements and embedding secure design across Core, Edge, and Access networks. You will partner with cross-functional teams to shape secure deployments, tackle strategic security challenges, and conduct regular assessments to close gaps. You’ll develop technical documentation and playbooks to standardize practices. This is a hands-on position within a mission-driven security team that values collaboration and impact, offering meaningful opportunities to influence how people stay connected. Compensation / Benefits * Lead security improvements: identify gaps and design/implement security solutions * Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and Planning to embed secure design patterns * Tackle strategic security challenges and conduct complex investigations * Perform regular security control assessments to validate configurations * Create technical documentation (playbooks, Confluence pages, diagrams, MOPs) Tasks * Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience in network security * Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, OSI model, and secure router operations (control/data/management planes) * Knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, IS-IS) and protection against hijacking * Experience analyzing NetFlow/IPFIX data for traffic analysis * Experience with network equipment from Cisco, F5, Arista, Juniper, or Palo Alto * Scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, Perl) or network automation experience * Proven organization and project management with cross-functional collaboration * Effective written and verbal communication and willingness to work flexible maintenance windows Key requirements * health and wellness benefits * matched 401(k) * paid holidays and personal days * parential leave and tuition assistance * life insurance and disability * flexible/hybrid work arrangements
