Machine Learning Engineer II

Experteer Overview In this role you will advance computer vision and ML solutions for UAV payloads, collaborating with R&D to prototype and validate detection, localization, and tracking systems. You’ll work across design stages-from requirements to verification-shaping algorithms and integration with aircraft or robotic platforms. The position combines engineering, CS, and math to deliver capable, tested ML solutions in a defense and commercial context. You will tackle real-world data challenges and implement experiments to quantify performance. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and test computer vision and ML algorithms for detection, classification, localization, and tracking from a group 1 UAV payload * Integrate ML algorithms into aircraft components or robotic systems through software implementations * Explore, visualize, and pre-process data to understand distributions and model impacts * Design, implement, and validate ML systems via purpose-built experiments * Define objectives, build models, and establish metrics to measure progress * Analyze ML algorithms and rank them by expected success probability * Ensure data quality and perform data cleaning to support deployment * Study data science prototypes and implement suitable ML tools and techniques * Manage resources (hardware, data, personnel) to meet deadlines * Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work under defined procedures to select actions * Support performance evaluation and troubleshooting of deployed models * Perform additional duties as assigned Tasks * BS in Computer Vision and Machine Learning or equivalent; qualifications in Mathematics, Optimization, CS/Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering * 2-5 years of relevant experience * Proficiency with C/C++ and Matlab * Familiarity with office software and productivity tools * Ability to troubleshoot complex systems * Experience with deep learning frameworks (TensorFlow or Keras) * Python and libraries such as scikit-learn and pandas * Experience with OpenCV and Linux * Ability to select hardware to meet latency requirements * Knowledge of computational statistics, optimization, data mining, exploratory data analysis, and predictive analytics * U.S. Citizenship * Willingness to work on government contracts and obtain security clearance Key requirements * medical, dental, vision * 401K with company matching * 9/80 work schedule * paid holiday shutdown
