A number of students are required to join the on campus IT Rover team for the 2026/27 academic year. IT Rovers assist the Information Technology & Digital (ITD) Campus support team providing practical IT support for MMU staff & students using PCs, printers and other equipment within the Universities.
Main tasks of the role will include:
- Using judgement to troubleshoot IT issues, and escalating unresolved problems to IT staff
- Managing and closing IT tickets using the IT record management system (Fresh)
- Providing practical help and assistance for wide-format printing, including clearing paper jams, refilling paper, and escalating issues as needed
- Supporting general printing tasks, including clearing paper jams and refilling paper on University network printers
- Providing practical help and assistance for the Loan Laptop systems, including cleaning, reconfiguring, and troubleshooting issues
- Carrying out other tasks as required, such as moving equipment and assisting with IT or AV checks

This role will be worked on a rota basis during term time from 21th of September
Shifts are based from Sandra Burslem 1.02 - Campus IT Support team office.
Mondays - Fridays: 9am-12noon, 1pm-4pm
It is expected that successful IT Rovers will be allocated 2 x 3 hour shifts. You will be booked on a Semester basis through Social Schedules.

Requirements
This role is only open to Manchester Met Students who will be enrolled on an undergraduate/postgraduate course for the duration of the 2026/27 academic year. We understand that you may not have professional work experience yet. Experience gained through helping friends, family, school, college, volunteering, hobbies, or other informal settings is valuable and can help demonstrate the skills we are looking for. All applicants must have:
- Knowledge and experience using MMU Print systems
- Knowledge and experience debugging Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge and experience using Outlook email systems on both mobile and desktop platforms (Windows or Mac)
- Experience debugging Windows applications and systems (Mac experience is also desirable)
- Previous experience assistanting or helping others, whether in personal, volunteer, or informal settings
- A strong focus on delivering excellent customer service
