Job description

This is a fully onsite role, supporting a school in North London. You’ll work directly with staff and students, acting as a trusted IT presence and taking ownership of day-to-day support.

You’ll need to be confident working across different environments, able to adapt quickly, and comfortable being the go-to person on site.

This role suits someone who enjoys being visible, proactive, and relied upon, rather than purely remote or ticket-based support.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide hands-on desktop support (1st line) within school environments
  • Deliver face-to-face support to staff and students
  • Work across multiple school sites, adapting to different setups and users
  • Act as a trusted on-site IT contact
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents quickly and effectively
  • Work with the helpdesk team to manage and close tickets
  • Escalate issues and liaise with third-party suppliers where required
  • Carry out basic audits and recommend improvements to IT systems
  • Support wider IT projects and team initiatives

Requirements

  • Experience providing IT support within an education setting (school or college)
  • Minimum 2* years’ experience in a desktop / IT support role*
  • Strong experience with:
  • Windows desktop environments
  • Microsoft 365
  • Basic server environments
  • Comfortable working face-to-face with users in busy environments
  • Able to work independently and take ownership of issues
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Skills

  • Active Directory & Group Policy
  • Microsoft 365 / Azure administration
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM)
  • PowerShell (basic scripting)
  • Backup solutions
  • Virtualisation (Hyper-V / VMware)
  • Networking (VPNs, VLANs, switches, firewalls)
  • Experience with MSP tools (e.g. Kaseya, Datto)
  • Good documentation and organisation skills
