Job description

SunSoft Online is hiring a Budget Analyst for an Arizona state agency’s Business Services Division. Hard requirements, please read before applying:

  • Currently living in the Phoenix metro area, your current city must appear on your resume (applications without it are not reviewed)

  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future, W2 only

  • Experience with budgeting procedures and techniques, and data analysis of organizational spending

  • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access (or Google Suite equivalent)

The work, in the agency’s own words: Provide oversight and administration of the agency’s budgetary functions, including monitoring appropriations status, revenues, and expenditures. Prepare, analyze, and deliver monthly budget and revenue reports. Develop, analyze, and manage budgets including annual and new-program budget requests; monitor obligations, fund transfers, and agency financial activity; review and approve financial transactions and electronic funds transfer batches. Plan, manage, and submit deliverables for the annual State Budget process, including budget issues and strategic planning proposals; respond to state budget office inquiries. Support the annual financial statements audit, including preparation of the Management Discussion & Analysis. Monitor legislation for budget impacts. Preferred (not required): Accounts Payable experience · knowledge of the Arizona Procurement Portal and Arizona Budget System · prior state government finance experience. Details: $24-26/hr W2 depending on experience · Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 · hybrid: 3 days at home, 2 days in office (Phoenix, near University & 48th St) · contract through late January 2027, starting ~August 17 · in-person interview in Phoenix within a week of the posting close · HireRight background check and drug screening · education: some college required.
