Senior Associate - Data Protection Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will advance New York Life’s data governance for unstructured data, shaping metadata cataloging, lineage, and data quality. You’ll collaborate with governance analysts, product managers, and tech teams to improve discoverability, quality, and compliance across the enterprise, enabling timely, data-driven decisions. You’ll build automated quality checks, support platform integrations, and drive adoption of governance tools. This position offers hands-on work with leading platforms and a chance to impact data maturity at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and maintain automated data quality checks and monitoring across systems * Support metadata, tagging, data definitions, and standardization for consistency and traceability * Configure and maintain Atlan and Anomalo platform functionality, including custom connectors and BAU operations * Work with both structured and unstructured data to support governance, profiling, assessment, and quality * Build prototypes, dashboards, or lightweight apps using Python, SQL, Streamlit, Databricks * Define governance requirements for critical data elements and assist remediation prioritization * Create documentation and reporting to communicate findings and standards * Drive tool adoption through road-shows, training, and data owner/steward playbooks * Participate in Agile ceremonies by contributing to backlog and Jira sprint events Tasks * 3-5+ years of professional experience including 1-2+ years in data governance * Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field * Strong understanding of unstructured data, governance frameworks, metadata management, and data quality * Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills * Strong proficiency with SQL, Python, and data modeling/analysis concepts Key requirements * comprehensive benefits package * leave programs * adoption assistance * student loan repayment programs * discretionary bonus eligibility * incentive program eligibility
