Job description

Kforce’s client in Saint Louis, MO is adding a Product Owner to their team as they continue evolving their platform engineering and AI capabilities. This is an opportunity to join a highly visible organization focused on building internal products and modern technology platforms that support engineering teams across the enterprise., Unlike traditional Product Owner roles, this position requires someone who can help shape product strategy, influence direction, and create clarity in a fast-moving environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working through ambiguity, building roadmaps from the ground up, and partnering with highly technical teams to solve complex challenges. We’re seeking someone who enjoys building and shaping products, not just executing against an existing roadmap.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Develop and drive product vision, strategy, and roadmaps for platform and technology-focused products
  • Partner with engineering leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities, define priorities, and deliver business value
  • Help establish product direction, operating models, and best practices within a growing product organization
  • Translate business objectives and technical requirements into actionable priorities for development teams
  • Own and prioritize product backlogs while balancing strategic initiatives and day-to-day delivery needs
  • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies
  • Identify recurring challenges and work with teams to develop scalable, long-term solutions
  • Serve as a strategic partner to engineering teams by challenging assumptions, influencing decisions, and driving alignment
  • Communicate product vision, priorities, and progress to technical teams, leadership, and executive stakeholders
  • Help create structure, processes, and roadmaps in an environment that is still defining and maturing its product practices

Requirements

  • Experience defining product strategy and creating roadmaps
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • A track record of influencing stakeholders and driving decisions
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments
  • Strong executive and stakeholder communication skills
  • Confidence working with highly technical and opinionated teams
  • A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to balance immediate business needs with long-term product objectives
  • Experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business/Product Analyst, or similar product-focused role
  • Demonstrated success building or defining products, platforms, processes, or strategic initiatives
  • Experience working in Agile environments and prioritizing backlogs
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills
  • Ability to drive initiatives forward without requiring constant direction

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting platform engineering, developer tools, cloud, infrastructure, or AI-related products
  • SAFe Agile experience
  • Cloud platform exposure (AWS preferred)
  • Experience working in transformation, startup, or rapidly growing environments
  • Background working with internal technology products and engineering customers
