Principal Software Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will lead and contribute hands-on in a Scrum team to deliver complex software aligned with our architecture, standards, and governance. You’ll mentor engineers, drive architecture decisions, and explore AI-assisted engineering to improve delivery quality and security. You’ll work on automation and a modern delivery pipeline, balancing rapid releases with enterprise risk controls. Compensation / Benefits * Analyze requirements and estimate work across the Agile lifecycle, using AI to explore options and surface risks * Implement complex code changes with CI/CD and tests, applying AI-assisted coding to move faster while preserving quality * Diagnose root causes of issues using logs, metrics, and reproducible evidence, with AI-assisted hypothesis testing * Support testing and provide clear written descriptions of changes, leveraging AI to draft scenarios or documentation * Collaborate in Scrum, pair programming, and code reviews; refine team norms for AI-assisted work and quality gates * Partner with Product Owner on roadmap and responsible for architecture and technical delivery, including automation and AI-enabled capabilities * Lead or support technical research and innovation, evaluating platforms, models, tooling, and integration patterns with security and privacy considerations * Mentor and coach team members, giving feedback on technical choices, incidents, and safe rollout of AI-related changes * Protect confidential information and follow AI/data-handling policies to prevent data exposure * Demonstrate Ascensus core values and ethical use of AI to earn trust with clients and colleagues * Diagnose complex issues and validate AI-generated hypotheses with evidence * Support testing and documentation efforts, using AI to speed up drafting of cases and scenarios * Collaborate in Scrum activities and code reviews to improve team norms for AI-assisted work * Work with Product Owner to influence roadmap and ensure delivery meets governance and non-functional requirements * Lead or support research and architecture discussions with a focus on security, privacy, model lifecycle, and operations * Provide coaching and ensure safe rollout of AI changes with monitoring and guardrails * Protect confidential information and follow approved AI and data-handling policies Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent experience * Strong technical leadership capable of engaging technical and non-technical audiences and producing clear documentation * Proficiency with modern AI coding and analysis tools to accelerate development while safeguarding quality, security, and accountability * Ability to design effective AI-assisted workflows and evaluate AI output with sound judgment on when not to rely on automation * Minimum 8 years of professional experience developing software on the Microsoft technology stack using C# and .NET * Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript * Experience with relational databases (Sybase, MSSQL, Oracle) * Strong experience with distributed systems, SOA, RESTful services, and microservices * Strong understanding of web technologies (HTTP, Apache, HTTP Proxies) * Experience with multi-threaded applications and memory management * Experience with CI/CD, automation, and related tools Key requirements * 401(k) match * Medical, Dental, Vision * Paid-Time-Off * Remote-friendly policies * Competitive base salary * Other benefits mentioned on Careers page
