Experteer Overview As a Senior Data Scientist at IDEXX, you will design and validate cutting-edge analytics and predictive models to generate actionable insights for veterinary health and related applications. You will collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate research into production-ready solutions and to prioritize high-impact data-driven opportunities. You will stay at the forefront of ML, AI, and big data trends while mentoring colleagues and communicating complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders. This role combines research rigor with real-world impact, shaping data science across the organization. Compensation / Benefits * Research, design, implement and validate advanced algorithms on diverse datasets to achieve targeted outcomes * Develop and maintain analytic models delivering business insights or predictive services for IDEXX applications * Perform end-to-end predictive modeling: data sourcing, cleaning, transformation, feature engineering, model tuning and deployment * Collaborate with product management and engineering to define and implement solutions * Prioritize high-impact data insights across core business areas with cross-functional teams * Stay current with ML, AI, big data trends and solutions * Act as internal consultant, mentor and change agent * Translate research models into production code and communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences * Engage with data integration teams on data quality issues * Communicate results to key decision makers and maintain knowledge of clinical systems used in veterinary healthcare Tasks * Experience with data formats and transformations (CSV, XLS, JSON, Avro, Parquet) and relational/NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, HBase) * Data sources including cloud systems (AWS) * SQL and data manipulation; big data tools (Spark, Hadoop) * Core data science tools (R, SAS, Python, Matlab, Java) and boutique ML tools (TensorFlow, Theano, H2O) * Strong statistical foundation; broad deterministic and probabilistic methods * Excellent pattern recognition and predictive modeling skills * Thorough data exploration prior to modeling * Distributed computing knowledge and data processing workflows * Experience with ML modeling (supervised/unsupervised); various algorithms (trees, SVM, neural nets; ARIMA; PCA/SVD) * Healthcare domain experience preferred * Strong business sense and ability to align methods with business goals * Clear verbal and written communication; ability to translate technical topics for non-technical audiences * English fluency Key requirements * pet insurance * mental health resources * volunteer paid days off * employee stock program * foundation donation matching * 5% matching 401k(401k) with company contribution
