Job description

Experteer Overview In this role, you will lead the Cyber Security Control Center, guiding the deployment and tuning of MDR and related security tools to protect client environments. You’ll oversee security events, incidents, and vulnerabilities, partnering with IT and business stakeholders to align security actions with business needs. You’ll shape policies, incident response, disaster recovery, and security awareness programs to strengthen organizational resilience. This is a hybrid Chicago-based senior leadership role focused on driving continuous security improvement and risk reduction. Compensation / Benefits * Manage deployment, tuning, and operation of MDR tools, endpoint detection, logging and scanning tools, and other cybersecurity solutions * Oversee assessment and remediation of security events, incidents, and vulnerabilities * Collaborate with IT teams and stakeholders to set expectations, develop security strategies, and implement remediation plans * Create, refine, test, and enforce cybersecurity policies and procedures * Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans * Implement security awareness and training programs for employees * Monitor emerging threats, ensure regulatory compliance, and pursue continuous improvement * Provide guidance on security data analysis and enhance detection/response capabilities * Recommend risk-reduction strategies across cloud, on-prem, servers, network devices, and endpoints * Review and execute incident response plans and coordinate exercises Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, MIS, or related field or four years of equivalent experience * Eight years of IT networking or cybersecurity experience including six years as security analyst, network or systems engineer * Two years of cybersecurity operations team leadership experience * Strong knowledge of security event monitoring, vulnerability scanning, MDR/SIEM, asset management, and related processes * Extensive knowledge of networks, AD, encryption, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and security best practices * Familiarity with NIST 800-53, ISO 27001, MITRE ATT&CK, CIS Controls * Strong problem solving, program management, and communication skills * Ability to lead teams with accountability and results in high-pressure environments * Capacity to engage with vendors and stakeholders at all levels * Preferred: CISM, CISSP, CompTIA Security+ Key requirements * medical, dental, and vision insurance * 401k retirement account access * paid time off * paid sick leave * flexible/hybrid work arrangements * employee benefits package
