Job description
Experteer Overview In this role you will lead the development and scaling of AI/ML capabilities that drive automation, insight, and action across Target’s core workflows. You will collaborate with AI engineers, product partners, and stakeholders to translate complex problems into practical AI solutions, from prototype to production. You’ll shape evaluation metrics, monitor models, and promote reliable, responsible AI practices at scale. This is a chance to impact enterprise AI capabilities and contribute to reusable patterns across the Advanced AI team. Compensation / Benefits * Identify and design AI/ML solutions that deliver measurable business value * Frame problems, define success metrics, and guide experiments across LLM, ML, and DL models * Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to deploy production-grade AI/ML systems * Lead and mentor other data scientists, shaping technical direction and best practices * Establish evaluation strategies, monitoring, feedback loops, and human-in-the-loop workflows * Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and governance, privacy, and security requirements Tasks * 7+ years of hands-on data science/ML experience * MS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, AI, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related field * Proficiency with Python and common data science libraries (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) * Experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, model APIs, evaluation frameworks, or AI observability tools * Strong understanding of the model development lifecycle and production deployment * Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured data science approaches * Strong communication skills and ability to present complex AI concepts to diverse audiences * Experience mentoring data scientists and contributing to technical direction * Experience in large enterprise environments with data governance, privacy, security requirements Key requirements * comprehensive health benefits * 401(k) * employee discount * short term disability * long term disability * paid sick leave
