Job description

As a Hardware Program Engineer, you will serve as the bridge between hardware engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure server solutions are accurately configured, validated, documented, and delivered. You will work with server hardware components, configuration management, deployment planning, and technical project coordination while gaining valuable experience in enterprise infrastructure technologies. This position is best suited for candidates who enjoy working with hardware systems, understanding how server components fit together, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating complex engineering projects from concept through deployment.

What You’ll Do

  • Track and manage server hardware configurations, component changes, and deployment schedules.
  • Support the planning, execution, and tracking of enterprise server and infrastructure projects.
  • Translate system-level hardware requirements into executable project plans, workflows, and deliverables.
  • Maintain and manage hardware configuration documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and deployment specifications.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, product management, and manufacturing teams to align technical requirements and project milestones.
  • Assist with project scheduling, milestone tracking, dependency management, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Support server and networking deployment initiatives to ensure successful implementation and delivery.
  • Help document technical processes, workflows, deployment procedures, and hardware configuration standards.
  • Contribute to process improvements that increase hardware execution efficiency and project delivery effectiveness.
  • Monitor project status and proactively identify issues impacting hardware readiness, compatibility, schedules, or deliverables.

Requirements

Lenovo is seeking an Early Career Hardware Program Engineer to support the planning, configuration, validation, and deployment of enterprise server platforms. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related technical disciplines who have hands-on experience with computer hardware, server architecture, system integration, or data center technologies., * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Hands-on experience with server hardware, computer architecture, rack-mounted systems, or hardware configuration through coursework, engineering labs, internships, research projects, student organizations, or personal projects.
  • Foundational understanding of:

  • CPUs and processor architectures
  • Memory configurations
  • Storage and RAID technologies
  • PCIe devices and expansion cards
  • Network Interface Cards (NICs)
  • Firmware and BIOS concepts
  • Server hardware components and compatibility

Basic knowledge of data center infrastructure, hardware deployment processes, hardware assembly, or hardware lifecycle management.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple technical tasks and priorities.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint., * Internship, co-op, research, lab, or project experience involving enterprise servers, hardware validation, system integration, IT infrastructure, or data center technologies.

  • Experience building, upgrading, repairing, or configuring computer systems or servers.
  • Familiarity with server Bill of Materials (BOM) management, hardware compatibility testing, firmware updates, or component validation.
  • Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, or Smartsheet.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals and data center technologies.
  • Interest in enterprise computing, AI infrastructure, cloud computing, high-performance computing (HPC), or server technologies.
