Director, AI & Data Science (PL)

Experteer Overview As Director of Data Science at Schwab, you lead a cross-functional, ~10-person team to shape enterprise-scale AI solutions that inform business decisions and enhance client experiences. You translate business strategy into actionable AI roadmaps and oversee end-to-end ML systems, from data ingestion to production monitoring. You drive innovation in NLP/LLMs and Generative AI while elevating engineering standards and responsible AI practices. This is a strategic, high-visibility role with impact across marketing, client service, and other business areas. Compensation / Benefits * Lead and mentor a diverse data science team, fostering innovation, accountability, and technical excellence. * Partner with senior leaders to identify AI opportunities and convert priorities into roadmaps, goals, and measurable outcomes. * Translate business objectives into actionable data science plans addressing key challenges. * Design and build end-to-end ML systems with scalable architectures for data ingestion, feature generation, model training, deployment, and monitoring. * Raise engineering standards for data science with modular design, testing, version control, and production readiness. * Lead complex initiatives in emerging AI areas, including real-time and low-latency inference, with comfort with ambiguity. * Monitor trends in data science and responsible innovation to deliver value for Schwab and clients. Tasks * Master’s degree in Engineering (or quantitative field) * 6+ years of leadership experience managing data science teams delivering production AI products * 12+ years of AI/ML experience with strong knowledge of algorithms, statistics, and model development * 4+ years of experience with NLP, NLU, LLMs, or Generative AI in an enterprise environment * Experience leading AI/data science products through full lifecycle (strategy to adoption) * Strong executive communication skills to influence and align stakeholders * Ability to translate business needs into technology requirements and collaborate with engineering teams * Experience leading geographically distributed, cross-functional teams in a complex enterprise environment Key requirements *
