Sr. IP Network Engineer

Experteer Overview Senior IP Network Engineer for a large-scale, highly available network environment. You will design, implement, and evolve data center, data center interconnect, and security layers while driving automation and operational efficiency. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to evaluate new technologies and lead technical initiatives. This onsite Raleigh-based role blends hands-on engineering with mentorship and on-call responsibilities, contributing to a resilient, scalable backbone of the organization. Compensation / Benefits * Design and support modern data center network architectures (VXLAN/EVPN) with traditional L2 awareness * Manage and enhance firewall infrastructure, including policy creation and segmentation * Architect and maintain routing across a backbone network (BGP and other dynamic protocols) * Lead network automation efforts (provisioning, monitoring, remediation) * Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and operations teams on new technologies and improvements * Participate in on-call rotation and support maintenance activities as needed Tasks * 10+ years of hands-on experience in service provider or large-scale enterprise networks * Deep data center networking expertise (VXLAN, EVPN, leaf-spine) * Strong firewall knowledge (policy management, segmentation) * Solid routing background (BGP, OSPF, MPLS) in production environments * Experience with multi-vendor platforms (Cisco, Juniper) * Scripting/automation experience (Python, Ansible) * Comfort with Linux-based systems * Proven mentoring ability and capability to lead technical initiatives * Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences Key requirements * discretionary bonuses
