Experteer Overview As a Staff Software Engineer at GitHub, you will architect and deliver high-performance systems that power collaboration for millions of developers. You’ll drive technical execution from design to production and lead initiatives across distributed teams. You’ll work on core infrastructure, AI-driven platforms, and enterprise security and identity, shaping scalable, reliable services used by developers worldwide. This is a high-impact role that blends architecture, mentorship, and hands-on engineering to advance GitHub’s platform at scale. Compensation / Benefits * Design, develop, test and ship scalable solutions across multiple GitHub services * Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and code reviews to grow team capabilities * Own system health, participate in on-call rotations and incident response * Design and implement APIs for component integration * Collaborate with cross-functional teams and lead technical discussions including design and cost considerations * Develop comprehensive testing strategies and incorporate customer feedback for continuous improvement * Champion security for GitHub Actions, implementing isolation for untrusted code and partnering with Security teams * Improve operational excellence by enhancing reliability, monitoring, and runbooks across Actions services * Drive and align the technical roadmap with product goals, incorporating new technologies and methodologies Tasks * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience * Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements * Microsoft Cloud Background Check requirements * Preferred: Master’s Degree and 12+ years or Bachelor’s with 15+ years of experience in similar tech roles; leadership and CI/CD experience Key requirements *
