Data Governance Manager

Experteer Overview In this role you will lead the rollout and ongoing maturation of The AA’s Data Governance Framework, shaping governance across ownership, definitions and quality. You will work with business units, data teams, privacy, security and risk to improve data transparency and value. The position combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery in a small, collaborative team. You’ll act as a trusted escalation point for data governance, quality and protection matters, contributing to regulatory alignment and operational performance. This is a mission-critical role at a leading motoring services organisation with hybrid London work and regular travel to HQ. Pay / Benefits * Lead the rollout and maturity of the Data Governance Framework, tools, processes and roadmap * Define and publish data definitions, KPI definitions, ownership, RACI, lineage and data quality measures * Drive improvements in data quality and value, identifying business cases to fix issues at source * Manage data governance forums, stakeholder meetings and change requests with clear priorities * Collaborate with Data Privacy, Information Security, Risk and Compliance teams to align governance with regulatory and internal controls * Lead, coach and support the Data Governance team and deputise for Head of Data Governance and Management when needed Tasks * Strong practical experience in data governance, including leadership capability * Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview or similar tool, including glossary/catalog, lineage and quality * Solid understanding of data concepts (warehousing, BI, analytics, ownership, definitions, lineage, quality, retention) * Knowledge of regulations governing data in financial services * Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to chair forums and influence senior stakeholders * Strong planning, problem-solving and delivery skills; experience coaching or managing others Key requirements * 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays * Worksave pension with up to 7% employer contribution * Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 with family discount * Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance * Employee discount scheme including car salary sacrifice and healthcare discounts * Company funded life assurance
