Engineering Manager - Integrations

Experteer Overview In this role you will provide hands-on technical leadership for the integrations between Mark43’s core platform and mission-critical third-party systems. You will shape architecture, oversee complex delivery, and mentor engineers while collaborating with Product and other tech teams to deliver reliable APIs and data workflows. The position is hybrid in Manchester, combining strategic direction with hands-on work on distributed systems that empower public safety operations. You’ll drive reliability, security, and performance across mission-critical integrations, partnering with global teams to align with technology and business goals. Pay / Benefits * Coordinate with the US counterpart to align technology and business goals * Guide architecture decisions across REST APIs, message queues, data pipelines, webhooks, and event-driven workflows * Lead design and delivery of complex integrations from discovery to production * Stay hands-on with design/code reviews, prototyping, debugging, and high-risk work * Drive reliability, scalability, security, performance, testing, observability, and operational readiness * Define API contracts and integration patterns with Product, customers, and partner teams * Mentor engineers through coaching, pairing, feedback, and delegation * Support the team with regular 1:1s, clear expectations, and career development Tasks * 6+ years in professional software engineering * Experience leading complex engineering projects including architecture and mentoring * Hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, asynchronous messaging, data pipelines * Proficiency in Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, REST, SQL/MySQL, and cloud-native systems * Experience guiding engineers on technical direction, coaching, and people management Key requirements * 28 days holiday plus UK bank holidays * private medical, dental, and vision insurance * 18 weeks paid parental leave * pension with employer contribution * gym reimbursement * equipment allowance
