Job description
Piper Companies is seeking an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to support a highly secure government-focused technology environment in Raleigh NC. The Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will play a key role in maintaining the security posture of classified information systems, ensuring compliance with federal security standards, and supporting the full authorization lifecycle of mission-critical systems. This position requires a security professional with extensive experience in Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes, system authorization activities, and ongoing compliance within classified environments. This is a long-term open-ended contract position and the Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) will need to sit onsite 5 days a week in Raleigh NC., * Manage security compliance activities throughout the system lifecycle, including system accreditation, authorization, and continuous monitoring efforts.
- Develop, maintain, and update security documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), POA&Ms, audit reports, and compliance artifacts.
- Conduct security assessments, vulnerability reviews, and weekly audit activities to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and security best practices.
- Partner with technical teams, program leadership, and government stakeholders to address security risks and support authorization efforts.
- Maintain records within designated systems of record and support annual audits, inspections, and security reviews.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) required.
- 5+ years of experience serving as an ISSO within classified or government-regulated environments.
- Strong knowledge of ICD 503, Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST 800-53, and DISA STIG implementation.
- Experience supporting Windows, Linux/Unix, cloud platforms, and enterprise security tools such as Tenable, Splunk, and related technologies.
- Professional security certification preferred (CISSP, Security+, CASP, CCNA, or equivalent) with strong communication and leadership capabilities.
Benefits & conditions
- Salary range: $135,000 - $175,000
