Job description
We have an exciting opportunity at the Department of State! The Data Center Operations Specialist is responsible for the operations supporting the hybrid VPC and global network infrastructure for the customer.
Responsbilities:
- You will be required to install, troubleshoot and configure servers, blades, APCs, storage and backup systems in the data center.
- You will also install and manage on-site computer workstations, monitors, laptops, printers, scanners.
- You will install and configure software packages, routine and emergency installation of patches, upgrades, antivirus software, anti-virus signature files and upgrades.
- You will also input all trouble calls into the Service Now tracking system, recommend closure of trouble call tickets when actions have been completed. You will replace basic system components within the data center.
- You will also coordinate warranty replacement of components with vendors.
- Additionally, you will prepare computer equipment for shipping or turn-in including sanitizing hard drive, and palletizing equipment.
- This position supports all computer labs to ensure all computers and printers are operational, to include loading paper and replacing printer cartridges.
- You will support all system and database administrators as needed.
- You will also assist in disk cloning and be able to restore backups systems.
- You will be part of the disaster recovery team for your data center in both operations and in training exercises.
- You must apply security upgrades and patches as instructed.
- You will also provide summaries of trouble calls that have been completed when requested and updates to management personnel as necessary.
Requirements
The following are the education and experience required for this position:
- 4+ years
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- Secret Security Clearance
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- Comp TIA Secuity +, ITIL Certification
