Job description

We are looking for talented ML engineers with expertise in classical and modern machine learning techniques for behavior prediction to own and actively contribute to the architecture, design, implementation, and delivery of a multi-modal prediction system. The ideal candidate will be a ML expert who has overseen a process from the R&D phase through product shipment and developing real-world solutions.

This role will be onsite 5 days a week at our Mountain View, CA office. What you’ll do

  • Develop key modules of the behavior prediction system, focusing on accurately predicting the movements and actions of surrounding objects to enhance the decision-making capabilities of our autonomous vehicles.
  • Create and maintain robust software infrastructure that enables the use of large-scale image and LiDAR data for learning algorithms, ensuring seamless integration and high performance.
  • Design and write highly optimized pipelines for data pre-processing, model training, data post-processing, and inference, ensuring efficiency and scalability.
  • Train advanced behavior prediction models, including LSTM, Transformer, and other relevant machine learning models. Evaluate their performance rigorously, identify and fix performance bottlenecks to achieve state-of-the-art results.
  • Create scalable training and evaluation tools and infrastructure to support continuous improvement and rapid iteration of behavior prediction models.
  • Work closely with other engineers to integrate behavior prediction systems into the broader autonomous driving stack and conduct comprehensive system tests to ensure reliability and safety.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. with 3+ years of industry experience or Master’s degree with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Strong experience with machine learning, particularly in the context of behavior prediction for autonomous driving.
  • Familiarity with machine learning models such as LSTM, Transformer, and other relevant architectures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing and cloud computing platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Previous experience in autonomous driving or robotics is a plus., Algorithms, Architectural Design, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Audiovisual, Automotive Automation, Autonomous Driving Systems, Business-to-Business (B2B), C++ Programming Language, Cargo/Freight, Cloud Computing, Computer Systems, Continuous Improvement, Data Modeling, Data Processing, Deep Learning, Establish Priorities, Fortune 500 Customers, Futures, Hardware-Software Integration, Intellectual Property (IP), Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR)\Laser Detection and Ranging (LADAR), Logistics, Machine Learning, Predictive Modeling, Problem Solving Skills, Product Shipments, Profit & Loss, Programming Languages, Python Programming/Scripting Language, Regulations, Reliability Testing, Research & Development (R&D), Robotics, Safety Systems, Software Administration, Startup, Supply Chain, Sustainability, System Integration (SI), System Operations, System Test, Team Player, Training Tools, Transportation Routing, Truck Driver, Trucking, Vehicle Fleets

Salary Range - $170,000-$250,000 More about Gatik

Founded in 2017 by experts in autonomous vehicle technology, Gatik has rapidly expanded its presence to Mountain View, Dallas-Fort Worth, Arkansas, and Toronto. As the first and only company to achieve fully driverless middle-mile commercial deliveries, Gatik holds a unique and defensible position in the AV industry, with a clear trajectory toward sustainable growth and profitability.

We have delivered complete, proprietary AV technology - an integration of software and hardware - to enable earlier successes for our clients in constrained Level 4 autonomy. By choosing the middle mile - with defined point-to-point delivery, we have simplified some of the more complex AV challenges, enabling us to achieve full autonomy ahead of competitors. Given extensive knowledge of Gatik’s well-defined, fixed route ODDs and hybrid architecture, we are able to hyper-optimize our models with exponentially less data, establish gate-keeping mechanisms to maintain explainability, and ensure continued safety of the system for unmanned operations.
