SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars. BUILD ENGINEER (FALCON 9) The Build Engineer owns the relationship between our development and production teams for our Falcon 9 rocket. You will provide input into the design and development of new and existing hardware and take a lead role in manufacturing and integration on our current and next generation launch vehicles. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the production, assembly, and integration of Falcon structural assemblies.
- Develop production procedures/processes and manage the transition of parts and assemblies from development to high flow rate production.
- Implement process improvements to reduce assembly hours and build cost.
- Execute design for manufacturability changes to enhance production efficiency.
- Create and maintain build schedules that list all discrete fabrication and assembly tasks.
- Resolve and analyze manufacturing discrepancies, while interfacing with the quality team (resolving issues for design, fabrication and assembly).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or welding engineering.

2 years of manufacturing, fabrication, assembly or testing experience (internship experience can supplement for the required industry experience). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Science in degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or welding engineering.
- Experience with spacecraft or aircraft structural assemblies.
- Process development, facility and line layouts, PFMEA, Error-Proofing.
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter CAD and PDM systems.

Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing techniques, processes, equipment, and other processes such as: machining, welding, drilling, sheet metal forming, and stamping. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be available to work long hours and weekends as needed. ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
