Job description

Key member of the architecture team focused on Radio and Radio Network functionality. Responsibilities include working with customers to understand their needs, creation of a conceptual design for a solution to those needs, and resolution to design and technology issues through the rest of the project realization. Receive general direction from Senior Manager - Systems Architecture. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the gathering, clarification, and prioritization of features, requirements and use cases for hardware and software (may require travel to customer locations).
  • Create conceptual design solutions that will balance customer goals and needs with technical constraints.
  • Serves as the Product Owner for Radio by outlining the “what”, and associated priorities, for our product development efforts. Determines and documents the business results that are needed in a product or a change to a product.
  • Works with the Product Manager and Scrum Teams to find the best business responses to emergent issues (changes in business priority, discovery of technical limitations, etc.)
  • Ensure that the radio network solution works well with other portions of the overall system.
  • Clearly communicate designs and changes to technical teams including engineering, testing, and customer organizations.
  • Support the creation and refinement of project and product development methodologies., + As a Systems Architect, this role has authority to lead negotiations with Product Engineering Team members on how to design solutions that cross product boundaries or that have complex system level interactions in the field.
  • As Product Owner, this role has authority, with agreement from the Product Manager, to decide what business results are needed, what constitutes acceptance criteria, priority of User Stories, and whether a User Story is acceptable.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BS degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
  • 10+ years’ experience software development with 5+ years as a software architect.
  • Detailed understanding of RF networks, protocols, and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networks, TCP/IP, and other communication protocols.
  • Aptitude to learn new technologies quickly and desire to excel.
  • Well-honed analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Proven skill in creation of conceptual design solutions.
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment of primarily engineers and technical people.
  • Knowledge of the agile development process and proven ability to direct development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to executive level.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • 3+ years of experience with communications system development.
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system.
