Job description

Experteer Overview As Lead API & Microservice Integration Engineer, you will architect the API-first backbone connecting Citi’s enterprise systems to AI automation platforms. You’ll work in the AI Automation Forward Deployed Engineering team to deliver secure, high-performance microservices in a regulated financial environment. You’ll partner with AI and UI engineers to expose robust endpoints and ensure governance, security, and observability. This role offers ownership of the integration layer at global scale and a chance to shape cloud-native architecture within Citi’s operations technology. Compensation / Benefits * Define and enforce the API-first strategy for the FDE organization with contract-first OpenAPI/Swagger, versioning, and gateway governance across environments. * Design and deliver production-grade Java Spring Boot microservices with resilience and reactive patterns for AI pipeline integrations. * Lead integration with Citi enterprise data platforms, identity/auth services, and third-party providers; enable event-driven data streaming via Kafka or IBM MQ. * Expose LLM inference, RAG pipelines, and agentic workflows as secure Spring Boot services; align API contracts with the Angular front-end. * Implement security-by-design across microservices (mTLS, OAuth2/JWT, Vault, field-level encryption) compliant with Citi governance and regulatory requirements. * Build observability and performance tests (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk/ELK; Gatling/k6) to meet SLAs. * Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to create CI/CD pipelines, Helm charts, and Kubernetes manifests for zero-downtime deployments on OpenShift. Tasks * Expert-level Java (6+ years) with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud (Gateway, Config, Feign), Spring Security, Spring Data, and Spring WebFlux. * API design mastery (OpenAPI 3.x, REST/contract-first, gRPC/Protobuf, GraphQL) and API lifecycle management. * Enterprise integration experience with Apache Kafka (Kafka Streams, schema registry) or IBM MQ, plus Spring Integration/Camel. * Security and compliance knowledge (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS, Vault) and familiarity with SOX, GDPR, MiFID II. * Data persistence with PostgreSQL/Oracle (Spring Data JPA/Hibernate); NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis); exposure to Elasticsearch. * Containerization and cloud-native delivery (Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Helm); CI/CD (Harness, Tekton, Jenkins). * Observability and performance tooling (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk/ELK) and load testing (Gatling, k6). * Leadership with ability to drive technical direction and collaborate across AI, UI, and enterprise architecture teams. Key requirements * hybrid work model * medical, dental & vision coverage * 401(k) * life, accident, and disability insurance * wellness programs * paid time off
