Job description

If you’re an experienced HVAC mechanic who takes pride in solving complex challenges and mastering your trade, this is your opportunity to take your career to the next level with Johnson Controls.

Our growing North America HVAC business is trusted to support some of the most critical environments in the world-hospitals, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and more. Here, your expertise directly impacts comfort, safety, and performance on scale.

What Your Day Could Look Like

  • You’ll put your skills to work on advanced commercial HVAC systems, handling everything from troubleshooting and repairs to full system installations.
  • You’ll work with a wide range of equipment, including chillers, compressors, pumps, rooftop units, and building automation systems-using modern tools like laser alignment and vibration analysis to get the job done right.
  • Beyond the tools, you’ll serve as a trusted expert to customers-diagnosing issues, explaining solutions, and ensuring their systems run efficiently and reliably.
  • You’ll also collaborate with a strong team of professionals, sharing knowledge, supporting apprentices, and continuing to grow your own expertise.

Why This Role Stands Out

You’ll have access to the latest HVAC technology, high-quality tools, and the support you need to do your best work. You’ll learn from experienced professionals in a culture that values craftsmanship, teamwork, and pride in the job.

Your growth matters here. Through our Service Technical Academy, you can earn certifications, expand your technical knowledge, and open doors to advancement. If you’re interested in developing your quoting or customer-facing skills, those opportunities are here too.

We also make sure you’re set up for success with a company vehicle, uniforms, and all the tools you need-along with recognition programs that reward your contributions and expertise.

Most importantly, we prioritize your wellbeing, with a strong safety culture and programs that support your physical and financial health.

Requirements

  • You’re a hands-on HVAC professional who enjoys solving problems and takes pride in quality work.
  • You have several years of experience working on commercial or industrial systems and are comfortable troubleshooting a range of equipment, including chillers, boilers, pumps, compressors, and related systems.
  • You understand mechanical systems deeply, including alignment and vibration diagnostics, and you can clearly communicate what’s happening and why-both to teammates and customers.
  • You’re someone who wants to keep learning, sharing your knowledge, and represent the values of a company that puts customers and people first.
  • You hold a Universal EPA refrigerant license and are open to travel as needed. This role also requires participation in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices.
