Embedded Software Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will develop and integrate embedded software for RF quantum sensing systems, working hands-on across hardware and software to ensure reliability. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems that impact production performance. You mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight while operating with substantial independence. The position sits in Colorado Springs and involves laboratory work and travel. This is a mission-driven role that blends software, hardware interfaces, and RF/DSP challenges to enable secure sensing capabilities. Compensation / Benefits * Develop and test real-time embedded software for microcontrollers interfacing with hardware * Perform hardware-software integration and system reliability work across sensors, motor controllers, and communications * Debug across firmware, electrical interfaces, and system-level interactions in deployed hardware * Lead and mentor junior engineers, providing technical oversight and knowledge sharing * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver practical RF quantum sensing solutions * Support lab work and hands-on testing to validate system performance Tasks * 7+ years of experience with Python, C, or C++ * Real-time software development for microcontrollers with hardware interfacing * DSP algorithms and RF theory, including spectrum analyzer front/back end * Experience with Agile processes and Jira/Confluence, GitHub version control * Windows and Linux experience; porting software Windows*Linux and cross-compiling libraries * Software/firmware for embedded systems (SCPI, Ethernet, Serial) * Ability to work in a team and travel up to 25% * Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance * Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field * Security clearance eligibility Key requirements * health benefits * life insurance * disability benefits * retirement plans * paid leave * tuition assistance
