Senior Software Systems Architect_Digital Applications

Experteer Overview In this role you lead end-to-end software architecture for digital space solutions, partnering with customers and engineering teams to shape scalable, secure, and evolvable systems. You define reference architectures, drive technology choices, and ensure usability and interoperability across complex applications. You will work on web, cloud-native, event-driven, and data-centric platforms, aligning with cybersecurity and deployment requirements. This position places you at the core of Thales Alenia Space’s digital competence centre in Luxembourg, contributing to cutting-edge space programs. Pay / Benefits * Define and maintain the end-to-end software architecture and technical roadmap for digital applications and related services * Collaborate with customers, end users, project stakeholders, and engineering teams to translate needs into technical specifications * Create reference architectures, design principles, and reusable patterns for front-end, back-end, data, and deployment * Design modular, scalable, secure, and evolvable software systems to meet changing business needs * Define architectures for system integration using APIs, asynchronous messaging, and event-driven approaches * Ensure high usability and user experience by coordinating with UI/UX teams * Identify opportunities for reuse and standardisation across the product portfolio * Lead architectural studies, proofs-of-concept, and benchmarks for performance, security, and scalability * Develop and maintain software architecture documentation (C4, UML, API docs, data models) * Collaborate with cybersecurity specialists to embed security by design and risk management into architectures * Support integration and validation activities, ensuring thorough testing across functional, performance, and security dimensions * Provide technical leadership during proposals, reviews, and engineering activities * Work with DevSecOps, development, validation, and infrastructure teams to ensure correct implementation of architectural decisions * Contribute to engineering governance through standards, reusable components, and mentoring Tasks * Minimum 5 years of professional experience in software architecture or technical leadership with complex digital solutions * Proven experience in multi-component software applications with UI, services, data stores, and integrations * Strong knowledge of modular design, domain modelling, SOA, microservices, event-driven architectures, and API integration * Experience designing modern web applications; front-end architecture, React or comparable frameworks * Back-end service development experience using Go, Python, or similar; Rust valued * Good understanding of API design, REST, asynchronous messaging, event-driven comms, OpenAPI * Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, data modelling, caching, search, and distributed data management * Cloud-native and container-based environments (deployment, networking, observability, lifecycle management) * Identity and access management, authentication/authorization, secure session management * DevSecOps practices, Git workflows, CI/CD, IaC, automated testing, vulnerability management * Experience with Docker, Git, Jira, Confluence, Postman or equivalents * Proficiency with architecture modelling approaches like C4, UML, Architecture Decision Records * Ability to produce clear technical documentation and communicate trade-offs * Strong English communication; ability to explain complex topics to diverse stakeholders * Experience across the full software lifecycle Key requirements * competitive remuneration * mobility policy * flexible working * international environment * opportunities to work on space programs * entrepreneurial mindset
