Job description

Lead hardware failure analysis and troubleshooting activities at system, board, and component level to identify technical root causes of quality, reliability, and performance issues. Execute electrical measurements, laboratory testing, verification activities, and failure reproduction to investigate complex issues impacting semiconductor test systems throughout development, manufacturing, and customer operation. Analyze customer, manufacturing, supplier, and field quality issues to identify recurring failure mechanisms, systemic risks, and opportunities for sustainable quality improvement. Collaborate with Hardware R&D, Software R&D, Operations, Global Support, and suppliers as a technical bridge to accelerate issue resolution and improve overall product quality and reliability. Support qualification and validation activities for new products, components, design changes, and manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with quality and reliability requirements. Utilize quality, reliability, and operational data to identify trends, assess risks, and provide data-driven recommendations that enhance product performance and customer satisfaction. Document and communicate technical findings, promote organizational learning, and translate investigation outcomes into engineering best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and competency development across the organizations challenges.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical qualification. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Proven experience in hardware failure analysis, troubleshooting, quality engineering, manufacturing support, or test engineering. Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics, electronic assemblies, system architectures, and the interpretation of schematics and technical documentation. Hands-on experience with laboratory and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, logic analyzers, and related diagnostic tools. Experience working in cross-functional environments involving engineering, manufacturing, service, and supplier organizations. Ability to communicate effectively with both technical experts and management. Fluent English language skills and willingness to travel internationally (approximately 10%). Preferred Qualifications: Experience within the semiconductor industry, electronics manufacturing, or Automated Test Equipment (ATE). Knowledge of reliability engineering, component qualification, failure mechanisms, and quality management systems. Experience supporting contract manufacturers, supplier quality activities, and manufacturing process improvements. Analytical and problem-solving skills with experience applying structured methodologies such as 8D, RCA, A3, FMEA, Six Sigma, or comparable approaches. Experience with data analysis, statistical methods, and visualization tools such as Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, JMP, or similar platforms. Understanding of the Advantest V93000 tester platform. German language skills.
