Job description

  • Serve as the Station Manager for several telecommunications stations which are operated and maintained by the U.S. Army Signal Activity-Fort Detrick.
  • Manage satellite and terrestrial communications missions by applying in-depth technical expertise to Vertex, AN/GSC-52, and MILSTAR systems to ensure optimum performance across various military telecommunications networks.
  • Implement engineering standards and operational directives through the interpretation of policy and the continuous revision of station procedures to meet evolving worldwide communication and control requirements.
  • Execute short and long-range information management planning as the on-site Program Manager to establish schedules and milestones for system upgrades while ensuring 24/7 telecommunications availability for the customer.
  • Coordinate operational status and technical requirements with high-level stakeholders, including DISA and the White House Communications Agency, to provide technical expertise during complex malfunctions and facilitate future equipment integration.

  • This position is designated Tier 5, Special Sensitive, High Risk and the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance Level with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access as a condition of employment.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) in accordance with AR 600-85. Signing a DA Form 5019 is mandatory prior to being placed into this position, individuals must undergo a drug test prior to being placed into this position.
  • This is a DOD Cyber Excepted Service (CES) personnel system position in the Excepted Service under 10 USC 1599f. Employees occupying CES positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25.
  • This position is in the Supervision/Management work category as defined by Cyber Excepted Service, DoDI 1400.25-V3007. A one-year supervisory probation is required to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties., In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe one year of specialized experience that demonstrates the possession of knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience would be demonstrated by Planning the development, implementation, and adherence to operational procedures to maintain station capability for satellite and terrestrial communication missions; Advising subordinates on administrative and technical matters related to ground support communications, satellite terminals, and computer systems; Developing short and long-range information management system plans to support telecommunications services for joint service military networks; Evaluating communications data services and long-term analysis trends to prepare management forecasts and strategic recommendations for high-priority telecommunications programs.
