PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Experteer Overview As a PostgreSQL Database Administrator at Apexon, you will own the architecture, deployment, and ongoing care of large-scale PostgreSQL environments on AWS RDS. You will ensure high availability, performance, security, and reliable disaster recovery while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role combines hands-on DBA work with automation and scripting to streamline operations. You will operate in a production-focused context, supporting enterprise applications and complex schemas. This is a chance to shape data infrastructure for scalable, secure digital solutions at a globally distributed, client-facing services firm. Compensation / Benefits * Architect, design, implement, and administer PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS * Configure parameter groups, option groups, security groups, users, and roles * Manage multi-AZ deployments for high availability and DR * Configure automated backups, snapshots, monitoring, and point-in-time recovery * Monitor and maintain databases with thousands of tables across schemas * Performance tuning, optimization, troubleshooting, and capacity planning * Design schemas, access patterns, indexing, and locking strategies * Implement security, encryption, and access control * Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and operational runbooks * Create Shell, Bash, and Python scripts to automate tasks * Monitor production, support incident management, and provide after-hours on-call support * Collaborate with development, infra, and application teams to optimize performance Tasks * 10+ years of PostgreSQL Database Administration experience * Extensive AWS RDS PostgreSQL administration experience * Strong PostgreSQL architecture, configuration, and administration knowledge * 8+ years of PL/pgSQL development experience * SQL and PL/pgSQL programming * Database performance tuning and optimization * Backup and recovery strategies * Security best practices * Schema design and locking strategies * Production monitoring and incident management * Capacity planning and performance analysis * Shell, Bash, and Python scripting * DevOps tools including Bitbucket, Bamboo, GitHub, and Jenkins * Analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills Key requirements * Health Insurance with Dental & Vision * 401K Plan * Life Insurance, STD & LTD * Paid Vacations & Holidays * Continuous Skill Based Development and Career Advancement Opportunities
