Job description

As our software continues to grow, we’re looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to help maintain, optimize, and support the databases behind our business-critical applications.

This is a hands-on technical position working closely with our software development team to ensure our databases remain secure, reliable, and high performing.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain PostgreSQL and MSSQL databases in development, test, and production environments.
  • Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
  • Optimize SQL queries and database performance.
  • Create and maintain indexes, backups, and recovery procedures.
  • Assist with database upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
  • Troubleshoot database performance and connectivity issues.
  • Work closely with software developers on database design and application performance.
  • Monitor database security and user permissions.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation.
  • Participate in on-call support as needed.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of PostgreSQL/MSSQL database administration experience.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Experience with database backup and recovery.
  • Experience tuning PostgreSQL for performance.
  • Understanding of indexing, query optimization, and database design.
  • Experience working in Linux environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues independently.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with any of the following is a plus:

  • PostgreSQL replication
  • PgAdmin
  • Linux system administration
  • Bash, PowerShell, or Python scripting
  • Git
  • Docker or Kubernetes
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • High-availability database environments
