Job description
As our software continues to grow, we’re looking for a PostgreSQL Database Administrator to help maintain, optimize, and support the databases behind our business-critical applications.
This is a hands-on technical position working closely with our software development team to ensure our databases remain secure, reliable, and high performing.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain PostgreSQL and MSSQL databases in development, test, and production environments.
- Monitor database health, performance, and availability.
- Optimize SQL queries and database performance.
- Create and maintain indexes, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Assist with database upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Troubleshoot database performance and connectivity issues.
- Work closely with software developers on database design and application performance.
- Monitor database security and user permissions.
- Develop and maintain database documentation.
- Participate in on-call support as needed.
Requirements
- 3-7 years of PostgreSQL/MSSQL database administration experience.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience with database backup and recovery.
- Experience tuning PostgreSQL for performance.
- Understanding of indexing, query optimization, and database design.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues independently.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with any of the following is a plus:
- PostgreSQL replication
- PgAdmin
- Linux system administration
- Bash, PowerShell, or Python scripting
- Git
- Docker or Kubernetes
- Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- High-availability database environments
