Embedded Software Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will lead the design and development of embedded Linux software for connected vehicle systems, enabling telematics, edge computing, OTA updates, video streaming, and vehicle network integration. As technical lead, you guide architecture and best practices while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, secure solutions. You will work hands-on with large mobile equipment to validate performance in real-world settings and drive high-quality releases. This is a hands-on, impact-focused position within a collaborative engineering environment. Compensation / Benefits * Design and develop embedded Linux software for connected vehicle systems (telematics, edge computing, OTA updates, video streaming, vehicle network integration) * Provide architectural direction and establish software design patterns and best practices as technical lead * Mentor engineers through design/code reviews and knowledge sharing * Ensure solution scalability, security, and maintainability aligned with product architecture * Test and optimize software on real hardware in real-world environments * Support software testing/validation in manufacturing and customer deployments and drive issue resolutions * Collaborate with embedded, cloud, and front-end teams for end-to-end solutions * Drive cross-functional product delivery with Agile processes and predictable releases * Identify and remove technical roadblocks and address risks proactively * Contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows, tools, and processes Tasks * 8+ years of experience in embedded software for mobile/complex systems * Proficiency in C++ for embedded software * Hands-on embedded Linux development, integration, and optimization * 5+ years networking experience relevant to connected vehicle and telematics * Experience with CAN bus and fleet-related communication or control systems * Proven ability to design, implement, and debug embedded software on real hardware * Previous experience leading or guiding embedded engineering efforts * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field Key requirements * Medical, dental & vision * 401(k) retirement plan * Life Insurance (Voluntary) * Short and long-term disability * HSA * Transportation benefits
