Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will own the vehicle-level autonomy solution and lead a team of autonomy engineers to deliver real-world autonomous machines. You will evaluate technologies, decompose complex requirements, and drive production-ready systems through simulation, proof of concept, and release. You’ll collaborate across software, hardware, and platform teams to meet customer needs and safety requirements while advancing Caterpillar’s autonomous portfolio. This is a chance to shape scalable, boundary-pushing solutions in mining/construction domains. Compensation / Benefits * Design and implement autonomous machine systems from requirements to production * Evaluate and select state-of-the-art technology solutions to meet customer needs * Collaborate with software, hardware, and platform teams to convert designs into deliverables * Estimate project time and cost for prioritization and management * Perform risk and benefit analysis and deliver phased deployment from simulation to production * Work with global engineering and cross-functional teams to deliver new products * Triage and resolve system-level issues in development, validation, or production Tasks * Production-grade experience across design, implementation, rollout, and support of autonomous systems * Ability to decompose complex customer requirements into achievable system-level requirements * Knowledge of Autonomous Systems and preferably Cat Command (e.g., Command for Hauling/Dozing) * Strong understanding of Caterpillar Command ecosystem in mining/construction or other centralized control architectures * Staying current with advancements in Autonomy and mining industries * Ability to influence decisions through expert evidence and clear recommendations * Effective documentation and communication skills to convey designs and tradeoffs at multiple levels * Bachelor in Engineering (or Computer Science) with relevant experience * Experience with SiL/HiL testing methods and simulation tools * Proficiency in C++ and Python within a Linux environment Key requirements * Medical, dental, and vision benefits * Paid time off plan * 401(k) savings plan * Health Savings Account (HSA) * Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) * Career Development
