Experteer Overview In this Lead Genomic Data Scientist role, you will steer cancer genome analysis within Genomics England’s Bioinformatics Consulting team, blending technical leadership with people management. You’ll develop and refine analysis solutions for researchers and industrial partners, delivering end-to-end projects and advancing best practices in genome analysis. You will drive impactful cancer genomics work that supports national-scale genomic medicine and research initiatives. Pay / Benefits * Provide technical and scientific leadership in cancer genome analysis * Act as main contact for consulting collaborations and coordinate with stakeholders * Develop, implement, and improve best practices for genome analysis * Lead end-to-end genomic analysis projects including design, execution, documentation * Benchmark and enhance tools for whole-genome processing, alignment, variant calling, annotation, prioritization and QC * Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project delivery * Apply and critically evaluate statistical genetics methods on large-scale data * Manage and lead an inclusive, high-performing cross-functional team Tasks * PhD or equivalent practical industry experience * In-depth cancer genomics expertise and ability to interpret tumor drivers * Proficiency in Python for data processing and analysis * Hands-on coding with reusable, high-quality code; strong Git and CI/CD practices * Ability to evaluate and apply statistical and machine learning methods with proper interpretation * Experience leading a cross-functional analytical team in academic or industry settings * Ability to tailor presentations to diverse audiences Key requirements * Generous leave (30 days + holidays) * Blended/remote working options * Pension with company contributions * Life assurance (3x salary) * Employee health and wellbeing benefits (gym subsidy, Headspace) * Learning budgets and professional subscriptions
