Job description

To assist the Network Administrator with installing, loading and maintaining network operating system hardware and software to support the MISD computer systems.

Major Responsibilities

Network Management

  1. Assist Network Administrator with installing and maintaining network operating system

software.

  1. Assist the Network Administrator with installation and maintenance of network hardware.

  2. Assist in trouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing network and data communication

problems.

  1. Design, document, test, and administer server-based user profiles as required.

  2. Analyze and determine computer users’ hardware, software, and computer system needs

computer system.

  1. Back-up administrative LAN/WAN servers keeping accurate records of the dates and files.

  2. Assist school personnel in installing network software.

  3. Assist operations staff with duties in the computer room and on campuses.

  4. Design, develop, document, and test computer systems, based on design specification or

computer users’ needs.

  1. Assist with other Computer Services departmental responsibilities as needed.

Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management

  1. Perform such other duties as may be assigned or as may be necessary by the Network

Administrator.

  1. Occasional network maintenance and emergency response outside of business hours.

Data Communications

  1. Assist with maintenance and installation of network communication devices.

Professional Growth and Development

  1. Observe professional and ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred OR

Comparable relevant work experience

EXPERIENCE: Two years successful experience with installing and maintaining Windows servers; Experience with database maintenance and network switching equipment preferred, 1. Knowledge of microcomputer and server configurations

  1. Familiarity with local area network topologies, wiring schemes, and operating systems

  2. Knowledge of Windows personal computer and server operating system installations and

configurations

  1. Knowledge of SAN and backup systems

  2. Knowledge of data communication equipment and terminology

  3. Ability to effectively communicate with school personnel, systems staff and computer

technicians, with courtesy and professionalism.

  1. Ability to work well with a diverse population, and/or crawl; and climb or balance. Regularly required to lift or exert force of up

to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,

distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus

Equipment used

Computer and printer, The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Occasionally required to travel to facilities within the district. May be required to work after school and weekends.
