Job description
We are looking for a an Associte Architect/Technical Architecture Analyst to work closely with an Enterprise Architect and Security Architect, acting as the bridge between high-level architectural thinking and clear, practical technical documentation.
You will take architectural concepts, whiteboards, meeting discussions and high-level designs and translate them into structured architecture artefacts including High-Level Designs, Architecture Decision Records, Technical Design Documents, system maps and technical diagrams. Importantly, this isn’t simply a documentation role: you’ll be expected to critically analyse what you capture, identify gaps and assumptions, challenge missing dependencies and non-functional requirements, and help ensure designs are robust and ready for technical and business review.
Who could this role suit?
This is positioned at an early-to-intermediate architecture level rather than requiring an established Enterprise Architect. It could be particularly well suited to a Junior/Associate Architect, Technical or Systems Analyst, technically focused Business Analyst, IT Project Analyst or Technical Writer who already has good technology knowledge and wants greater exposure to architecture.
For someone looking to develop their architecture career, the role provides the opportunity to work directly alongside experienced Enterprise and Security Architects and gain broad exposure across cloud, infrastructure, security, identity, DevOps and data. You’ll see how architectural concepts are developed, challenged, governed and translated into deliverable designs - making it a potentially strong stepping stone for someone looking to progress further into Solution, Technical or Enterprise Architecture.
Rather than requiring you to arrive as the finished article, the role offers exposure to Enterprise and Security Architecture while allowing you to build experience across architectural documentation, design assurance, governance, cross-domain technology and stakeholder engagement., * Work directly with the Enterprise Architect and Security Architect to capture architectural concepts, decisions and technical requirements.
- Produce structured architectural documentation including HLDs, ADRs and Technical Design Documents.
- Create clear technical diagrams, process flows and system maps using Visio and/or Miro.
- Critically review architectural concepts and identify missing information, assumptions, ambiguous requirements and governance gaps.
- Identify potential risks, dependencies and missing non-functional requirements around areas such as security, scalability and operational readiness.
- Validate technical information with specialists across Security, Infrastructure, DevOps and Data.
- Ensure documentation aligns with established enterprise architecture standards, governance frameworks and security baselines.
- Lead document reviews and walkthroughs with engineers, project managers, transition teams and business stakeholders.
- Translate complex technical architecture into clear language for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Maintain an organised architectural documentation repository within SharePoint.
Requirements
We’re looking for someone with a combination of technical understanding, analytical ability and strong communication/documentation skills, rather than necessarily someone who has already held a senior architecture position., * Good understanding of the Microsoft enterprise technology ecosystem, including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Power Platform.
- Familiarity with Microsoft security and identity technologies such as Entra ID, Purview and Intune.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of enterprise architecture concepts, frameworks and visual modelling conventions.
- Strong technical writing skills and the ability to turn complex or loosely defined concepts into structured documentation.
- Experience with Visio and/or Miro, alongside Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
- Experience working with collaboration/delivery tooling such as Teams and Azure DevOps.
- Strong analytical skills and the confidence to question assumptions and identify missing information.
- Good facilitation and stakeholder-management skills, including leading discussions and document walkthroughs.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical specialists and business stakeholders.
- Typically 2+ years’ experience within Technical Writing, Systems Analysis, Junior/Associate Architecture, IT Project Analysis or a comparable technical role.
