Job description

As a Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for designing, developing and supporting production test solutions for both new and existing electronic assemblies. You’ll work closely with customers, production and engineering teams to ensure products are fully testable, manufacturing processes are efficient, and quality standards are consistently achieved. This role offers an excellent blend of development work, customer interaction and hands-on engineering, making it ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment., * Develop and implement functional test strategies for PCBA and box-build assemblies

  • Design and develop custom test fixtures, hardware and software for production testing
  • Create and maintain automated test programs using platforms such as LabVIEW and Takaya Flying Probe systems
  • Write and optimise code for automated test equipment including Flying Probe and In-Circuit Test (ICT) systems
  • Carry out component-level diagnosis and fault finding on PCBAs and functional assemblies
  • Support Design for Test (DFT) activities, working with customers to ensure products are optimised for manufacture and testing
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), establishing robust production test processes for new products
  • Develop and maintain functional test procedures and documentation
  • Analyse production yield data to identify trends, reduce test times and improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Investigate day-to-day production issues, providing rapid technical support and corrective actions
  • Raise and manage NCRs where required
  • Support customer-specific testing requirements and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
  • Work closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams to drive continuous improvement

Requirements

  • HNC, HND or Degree in Electronic Engineering or similar
  • Previous experience as a Test Engineer within an electronics manufacturing or EMS environment
  • Strong understanding of functional testing and PCBA fault diagnosis
  • Experience developing automated production test solutions
  • Experience programming or supporting automated test platforms such as Takaya Flying Probe, ICT or similar
  • Experience using LabVIEW or comparable test software
  • Good understanding of Design for Test (DFT) principles
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and PCB layouts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with customers and internal engineering teams

  • Flying Probe programming
  • In-Circuit Test (ICT)
  • Boundary Scan / JTAG
  • TestStand or other automated test environments
  • AS9100 or ISO9001 manufacturing environments
  • Defence, communications, industrial or instrumentation electronics
