Job description

We’re specifically looking for engineers who are strongest on the backend and who enjoy designing systems, solving complex data problems, and using AI as a core part of their development workflow.

You’ll work across a range of internal and client-facing platforms that underpin Legal 500’s research, rankings, workflows and products, helping us build the next generation of AI-enabled software.

What You’ll Be Working On

  • Backend services and APIs built with TypeScript and Node.js
  • Data-heavy systems and workflows
  • CMS and internal platform development
  • Product architecture and systems design
  • API integrations and data pipelines
  • AI-assisted engineering workflows
  • Scaling and improving existing platforms rather than building simple greenfield applications

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy understanding how systems work end-to-end and who want meaningful ownership of features and services.

AI-Driven Engineering

We actively use AI throughout the software delivery lifecycle and are looking for engineers who already work this way.

We’re particularly interested in candidates who use tools such as:

  • Claude
  • Cursor
  • Claude Code
  • GitHub Copilot
  • Agent-based development tools

A strong candidate will:

  • Already be actively using AI tools in their development process
  • Be confident generating, iterating, and validating AI-assisted code
  • Be excited to continue evolving how AI is used in engineering

We’re looking for engineers who have integrated AI into their workflow end-to-end and can talk through real examples of how this has improved delivery, quality and productivity.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Experience building backend-focused full stack applications.
  • Strong understanding of databases and data-heavy systems (MySQL).
  • Solid systems thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g. Claude) in development workflows.
