Experteer Overview As a Staff Software Engineer at Pinterest, you define and drive the web development direction that product engineers rely on, enabling faster, more reliable feature delivery. You focus on data fetching, scalable web foundations, and improving developer experience across frameworks and design systems. You collaborate with product, design, and infrastructure teams to shape long-term architecture and code health. This role offers impact at scale, contributing to a high-performance web platform used by millions. Compensation / Benefits * Define and drive foundational web capabilities with a primary focus on data fetching * Evaluate current web tooling and patterns to identify high-impact improvements * Lead platform investments that reduce friction and improve consistency * Collaborate with product, platform, design, and infrastructure teams on scalable patterns * Shape data fetching strategy in a hybrid GraphQL/REST environment and influence framework adoption * Establish best practices, abstractions, and guidance to improve maintainability * Mentor engineers and influence direction through architecture reviews and cross-team leadership * Contribute to a high-scale web platform serving millions of users and enabling engineers to build product experiences Tasks * 8+ years of web software engineering in large-scale web applications * Deep understanding of caching, latency, reliability, and developer ergonomics * Expert-level coding in JavaScript or TypeScript (Python optional) * Knowledge of Node.js, server-side rendering, and GraphQL (Relay) * Experience with GraphQL and REST and selecting appropriate usage patterns * Proven ability to evaluate complex systems and lead cross-team architectural initiatives * Experience establishing reusable patterns and documentation * Strong technical leadership, mentorship, and cross-team influence * Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholder alignment * Passion for web architecture and staying current with client-side data systems * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience Key requirements * equity * hybrid work model * in-office 1-2 times per quarter * base salary range disclosed * growth opportunities * inclusive workplace
