Drupal Administrator & Support Engineer (AWS Focus) - Federal Programs

We are seeking a Drupal Administrator & Support Engineer to provide hands-on operational support for Drupal 11 applications hosted in AWS environments. This role is focused on triaging, troubleshooting, and resolving issues across Drupal and AWS, including data imports, user access, theming issues, and application bugs.

You will serve as a key member of the support team, ensuring system stability, performance, and compliance for federal digital platforms. This role requires a strong mix of Drupal administration, debugging skills, and familiarity with AWS infrastructure.

Key ResponsibilitiesDrupal 11 Support & Administration

• Administer and maintain Drupal 11 environments, including configuration, modules, and user roles/permissions
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to content management, theming, and site functionality
• Support and debug custom modules and contributed modules within Drupal 11
• Manage configuration changes using Drupal configuration management workflows
• Assist with content publishing workflows and editorial support

Issue Triage & Troubleshooting

• Serve as first-line support for diagnosing and resolving production issues
• Triage bugs related to data imports, site performance, access control, and UI/theming inconsistencies
• Analyze logs (Drupal, PHP, web server, AWS CloudWatch) to identify root causes
• Escalate complex issues to development teams with clear documentation and replication steps
• Track and manage issues through ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow)

Data Imports & Integrations

• Support and troubleshoot data import processes using Drupal Migrate API and related tools
• Validate and troubleshoot data transformations, mappings, and migration failures
• Assist with integrations between Drupal and external systems or APIs
• Ensure data integrity and consistency across environments

AWS Environment Support

• Monitor and support Drupal environments hosted in AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront)
• Troubleshoot infrastructure-related issues such as performance bottlenecks, caching, and connectivity
• Assist with deployments, environment configurations, and access management (IAM roles/policies)
• Work with DevOps teams to maintain system uptime and reliability

Federal Compliance & Security

• Ensure adherence to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards in support activities
• Follow security best practices aligned with FISMA and FedRAMP requirements
• Participate in patching, updates, and vulnerability remediation efforts
• Maintain proper documentation for audits and compliance reviews

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 3-5+ years of experience supporting or administering Drupal (experience with Drupal 11 preferred)
• Strong understanding of Drupal site building, configuration, and user management
• Experience troubleshooting Drupal issues across modules, theming (Twig), and content structures
• Familiarity with Drupal Migrate API and data import processes
• Proficiency in PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript
• Experience working in AWS environments (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudWatch)
• Ability to read logs and debug issues across application and infrastructure layers
• Experience with Git and ticketing systems (Jira, ServiceNow, or similar)

Federal/Government Experience

• Experience supporting federal agencies or government contractors preferred
• Familiarity with Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards
• Understanding of FISMA, FedRAMP, and secure system operations
• Experience working within compliance-driven environments, * Experience supporting Drupal migrations or post-migration stabilization efforts
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes
• Knowledge of caching layers (Redis, Varnish) and performance tuning
• Experience with containerized environments (Docker)
• Understanding of headless Drupal concepts (JSON:API)
• Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
