Job description

Experteer Overview In this role you will join the Venmo Data Platforms team as a hands-on technical leader, shaping Venmo’s cloud-native data stores and ensuring high availability at scale. You will partner with engineering leadership to align initiatives with business goals, mentor engineers and product owners, and drive automation and AI-driven optimization. You will design, implement, and operate next-gen databases, collaborating with infra and product teams to enable data-driven innovation and platform resilience. This role offers the chance to impact growth in a dynamic payments environment. Compensation / Benefits * Act as project or system leader, coordinating the work of other engineers * Define technical tasks and guidance for the team * Deliver objectives for customers, operations, programs or services * Proactively improve existing structures and processes * Reconcile competing priorities to identify optimal solutions * Identify patterns and create generalized, scalable solutions * Collaborate with management to raise engineering standards * Represent PayPal to partners, customers, or industry groups Tasks * 5+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent * Experience with infrastructure as code (AWS CLI, AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet) * Programming and scripting skills (Lambda, API Gateway, Python, Java, Bash) * Database design for relational and non-relational stores and operations experience with AWS DynamoDB, DocumentDB, Cassandra, MySQL, Aurora, Redis, Elasticsearch * Mentoring experience and ability to develop leads and engineers * Strong communication to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences * AWS Solutions Architect preferred Key requirements * annual performance bonus * equity or incentive compensation * hybrid work model (3 days in office, 2 days remote) * comprehensive healthcare for you and family * generous paid time off * wellbeing and financial security resources
