Job description

Join a leading defense contractor’s Torpedo Systems Group and take ownership of FPGA development that directly supports critical national security programs. This is a high-visibility role where your designs move from the lab to real-world deployment, and where you will serve as a trusted technical voice for both your engineering team and the government customer.

If you want your work to matter, and you want a front-row seat to advanced systems development, this role delivers both.

Why This Role

  • High impact: Your FPGA designs support mission-critical torpedo systems used in active defense programs.
  • Visibility and trust: Act as the onsite frontline engineering representative for government customers, giving you direct exposure to program leadership and decision-makers.
  • Full lifecycle ownership: Take a design from architecture through verification, delivery, and field troubleshooting, not just one slice of the process.
  • Growth path: Shape organizational FPGA processes and standards, positioning yourself as a technical leader within the group.

What You Will Do

  • Drive design, verification, and documentation for FPGA developments from concept to completion
  • Contribute to system architecture, simulation, and detailed design decisions
  • Define module interfaces and lead key aspects of device design and simulation
  • Evaluate the full process flow: high level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization
  • Verify test results and analyze system performance
  • Present requirements, designs, and results to management, engineering teams, and customers
  • Help shape and improve FPGA development processes across the organization
  • Apply engineering standards, procedures, and tools throughout the full development life cycle
  • Support onsite installation, troubleshooting, and corrective actions when new products are delivered to the customer

Requirements

  • Strong background in FPGA design, verification, and system architecture
  • Comfort working across the full development life cycle, from concept through fielded support
  • Clear communicator who can translate technical work for varied audiences
  • Interest in taking on customer-facing responsibility and representing engineering solutions with confidence

This is an opportunity to grow your technical expertise while playing a direct role in national defense capability. If you are ready to take the next step in your FPGA engineering career, we want to hear from you., Must be US Citizen due to government requirement

  • Must be willing to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be able to pass a background check including criminal, credit, education, employment and drug test.
  • Prior experience contributing to the development of new theories and methods in FPGA engineering
  • Expert knowledge of Software Source Control tools and concepts (Git preferred)
  • Proven experience with hardware troubleshooting using tools such as DMM, Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Function Generators, etc.-
  • Experience working in a Linux environment
  • Experience writing in C and Multithreaded programming
  • Experience working with Real Time Operating Systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to establish strong relationships
  • Provides resolution to problems to a diverse range of complex problems which require the use of ingenuity and creativity
