Job description
- Review business and technical requirements to identify test conditions.
- Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks and reusable test scripts.
- Ensure automation integrates with CI/CD pipelines for continuous testing.
- Execute automated test suites across different environments.
- Perform functional, regression, smoke, performance testing.
- Execute manual tests when automation is not feasible or for exploratory testing.
- Identify, document, and track defects in qTest.
- Provide clear reproduction steps, logs, and screenshots.
- Collaborate with developers and business users to resolve defects.
- Validate data integrity and perform backend testing using SQL or APIs.
- Ensure compliance with NYSIF standards, accessibility guidelines, and security requirements., This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
Requirements
- NYSIF employee with one year of permanent, competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 1; OR
- Bachelor’s or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; OR
- Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in any field AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
- 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science AND one year of experience in information technology; OR
- Two years of experience in information technology.
Note: Certain math and business courses although taken as part of a computer science curriculum, are not counted towards the 15 semester credit hours., * Prior experience with Tricentis Tosca, Tricentis qTest, and Azure DevOps, including test automation, test management, and application lifecycle management., Some positions may require additional credentials or a background check to verify your identity.

- Transfer: Current New York State employee with one year of permanent competitive class service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or Section 52.6 of Civil Service Law. Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades. Eligible titles include, but are not limited to: Administrative Specialist 1; Contract Management Specialist 2; Human Resources Specialist 1
- Reinstatement: Candidates who have previously held the xxx title, or a transferable title, may be eligible for consideration for reinstatement.
