Staff Software Engineer, Backend

Experteer Overview As a Staff Backend Engineer at Weave you help shape the future of healthcare technology by building scalable, high-performance backend services. You will design and lead cloud-native Golang microservices, collaborate across teams in the US and India, and drive architectures that improve reliability and payment processing at scale. This role combines hands-on engineering with strategic impact, mentoring peers and guiding multi-team initiatives. Compensation / Benefits * Architect, design, and maintain scalable backend services using Golang in a cloud-native environment * Lead and drive multi-team engineering initiatives with a focus on distributed systems and API design * Improve system reliability, performance, and payment processing efficiency * Mentor engineers across teams and promote code quality, testing, and deployment practices * Lead migrations and technical transitions with clear rollout, rollback, and communication plans * Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and security to align technical strategy with business goals * Define monitoring, alerting, and incident response to ensure operational readiness * Provide technical leadership and thought leadership on backend architecture and new technologies Tasks * 10+ years of backend engineering experience * Expertise in Golang (and/or Java, Python, Ruby, C# or similar) * Strong experience with distributed systems and microservices * Proficiency in REST, gRPC, protobufs, and message queues (NSQ, Kafka) * Relational databases experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL) * Cloud experience (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable) * Containerization, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Helm) * Demonstrated ability to drive large-scale multi-team projects with strong communication * Experience leading technical migrations and ensuring smooth transitions * Data-driven problem solving and mentoring abilities Key requirements *
